A full day outdoors can cover a lot of ground, and the last thing you want is to run out of battery halfway through your plans. Your Hypershell exoskeleton's battery runtime depends on the terrain you're covering and how much assistance you're using. Knowing how to manage your battery can help you plan longer outings and keep enough power for the rest of your route.
Before heading out, check the battery range of your Hypershell model. Our New Hypershell Series includes the X Pro S, with an advertised range of up to 17.5 kilometers, and the X Max S, which offers up to 30 kilometers on a single battery. The X Ultra S comes with two batteries, giving it a combined advertised walking range of up to 60 kilometers.
The distance covered on each charge depends on the activity and assistance settings. Our published battery tests show how runtime and range differ under specific conditions. The following figures apply to the 30-kilometer battery configuration:
| Activity | Assistance setting | Maximum runtime | Maximum range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walking | Eco Mode 30% | Up to 7.5 hours | Up to 30 kilometers |
| Walking uphill | Eco Mode 100% | Up to 156 minutes | Up to 13.8 kilometers |
| Cycling | Hyper Mode 100% | Up to 102 minutes | Up to 35 kilometers |
Battery figures are based on controlled laboratory tests. Walking tests were conducted at 4 kilometers per hour on a Grade 2 incline, with Eco Mode set to 30% and 100% assistance. Cycling was tested indoors at 20 kilometers per hour in Hyper Mode at 100% assistance. Actual performance depends on terrain, conditions, load and how the exoskeleton is used.

Battery use differs between activities, so keep your planned route in mind when estimating how much charge you'll need.
Take a look at your planned route, paying attention to its distance and elevation. A long walk on flat ground may use less battery than a shorter hike with several steep climbs. Knowing where the hills begin and how long they last makes it easier to decide when you'll need stronger assistance.
On a 15-kilometer hike that begins with five kilometers of flat walking before a steep climb, start with lower assistance and increase it as the trail gets steeper. If there's another climb on the way back, keep some battery power available for that section. Checking the full route beforehand gives you a better idea of where your Hypershell exoskeleton will use more power.
Your plans could also include extra walking between stops or a longer route than expected. Account for this distance when estimating how much battery you'll need, and leave some charge available for the return trip.
Your assistance settings affect how quickly the battery drains. Higher settings use more power, especially on steep or uneven terrain, while lower settings can help the battery last longer.

On flat paths, try using Eco Mode at a lower assistance level. Increase it when climbing and reduce it again on easier ground. This can help save battery power for later in the day, when you may want more assistance after several hours of walking.
Check your remaining battery during breaks, particularly after a long climb or a section where you've used stronger assistance. If you've used more power than expected, lower your assistance on easier ground or swap to a charged spare battery.
How far your remaining charge will take you also depends on the terrain ahead. The same amount of battery power can cover more distance on flat ground than on a steep uphill section. Over time, you'll get a better idea of how much power your usual routes require.
Temperature can also affect battery performance, so keep spare batteries away from extreme heat or cold. During longer breaks, switch your Hypershell exoskeleton off completely to avoid using power while you're resting.
For longer outings, a spare battery lets you continue using your Hypershell exoskeleton without stopping to recharge. Our New Hypershell Series uses swappable 72 Wh batteries, so you can replace a depleted battery with a charged one. The X Ultra S already comes with two batteries, making it a practical option for longer routes.

You can also recharge during a longer break if you have access to electricity. Batteries in our New Hypershell Series support 65 W fast charging and take approximately 88 minutes to reach a full charge under the specified conditions. A lunch stop at your accommodation could give you enough time to recharge before heading out again.
Check for charging facilities before leaving and bring a compatible charger. For longer routes without access to electricity, pack a fully charged spare battery and keep it somewhere safe in your bag.
The more you use your exoskeleton, the easier it becomes to judge how much battery you'll need for different routes. Monitoring your remaining charge and adjusting assistance as needed will help you plan for longer days outdoors.
Our New Hypershell Series offers different battery options depending on how far you're going. For longer outings, bring a spare battery or plan somewhere to recharge so you can keep using your Hypershell throughout the day.
